My children and I are visiting my mom this week. I did not plan food well. Almost everything is off plan. I'm doing the best I can, but really should have planned better. I am letting it go because my mother is 75 years old and time with her is more important than the food. I will say that my mother is the most fit 75 year old I have ever met. She is currently outside as I type this, raking limbs so that she can cut the grass. She does more by 9 AM most days than I do all week. She is amazing. I am hoping that I'm as able as her at that age. She still cleans houses "for the elderly" (haha the irony) 2-3 days a week. And she doesn't use mops, she scrubs floors (hand and knees). She tells her doctors that if she retires and stops that she will "lock up" because she has arthritis and moving allows her to keep moving. My brother and I worry about her for sure, but at the same time, if she is capable who are we to judge. And if something happens to her while she is doing something she loves, then I think that will be ok too. My brother doesn't agree with that last part because he thinks she will live forever. (My father passed when I was 21 of skin cancer and she never dated anyone else after that). When we return on Saturday from this trip I am going to sit and rewrite my goals and write down my actual plan to stay on plan. Writing down everything that is in your head is so helpful to stick with it. I will get back on track and lose this weight I have recently gained (stoopid perimenopause).
